Delete a customer from AvaTax if you no longer need to treat the customer as exempt or store their exemption information.
Before you begin
Customers cannot be deleted if they have any active or expired exemptions. Stop the exemptions from applying before deleting the customer.
- In AvaTax, select Exemptions.
The Customer Exemptions page opens.
- Find your exempt customer in the list.
- Select the trash icon to the right of Details.
If the trash icon is grayed out, it means that you have active or expired exemptions on file for the customer. Stop the exemptions from applying before deleting the customer.
- Select Delete Exempt Customer in the message that appears to confirm that you'd like to delete the customer.
