How do I resolve the error "Document not found" in GP?


When posting a document, I receive the error below:

"PostTax Returned other than success - Messages: DocumentNotFoundError. The tax document could not be found."


Microsoft Dynamics GP


  • When attempting to post a transaction, GP looks for a Uncommitted document on the Avalara Admin Console to Commit
    • If an Uncommitted version of the transaction is not present, it will result in the error message: Document not found
  • To resolve this issue:
    • Locate the document in question in GP
    • Recalculate the tax by pressing CTRL-T or Saving the transaction
    • Try to post the document again
