Terminal Operator Inventory

When reporting a terminal operator taxpayer type, most jurisdictions require inventory reporting. The software is configured to each jurisdiction's filing requirements.
Report ending inventory
- Enter the inventory on a schedule code beginning with INT with the appropriate description. This code is internal to the Avalara software.
- If a specific schedule code used by the jurisdiction is used, the inventory records entered on the INT schedule will populate the correct form.
- EXAMPLE: Enter NY TOR inventory amount on INT03:Ending Physical Inventory. When you run generate the return, it will populate form FT-941.
- EXAMPLE: Enter NY TOR inventory amount on INT03:Ending Physical Inventory. When you run generate the return, it will populate form FT-941.
- If a specific schedule code used by the jurisdiction is used, the inventory records entered on the INT schedule will populate the correct form.
Report beginning inventory
There are 2 ways to report beginning inventory.
- Enter amount of beginning inventory on a schedule.
- If a specific schedule code used by the jurisdiction is used, the inventory records entered on the INT schedule will populate the correct form.
- EXAMPLE: Enter AL TOR inventory amount on INT02:Actual Beginning Physical Inventory. When you run generate the return, it will populate line 1 of the Motor Fuel Terminal Operator Monthly Report.

- If a specific schedule code used by the jurisdiction is used, the inventory records entered on the INT schedule will populate the correct form.
- Carry over ending inventory from the previous month's filing.
- The software automatically copies the ending inventory from the previous filing to the beginning inventory of the current filing.
- The previous filing period must be marked as Filed.
- The eFile create has a tab that allows you to choose to include beginning inventory if the jurisdiction allows a choice.
- You can also set the inventory to copy each time you run the return.
- Click Maintenance > Taxpayer Preferences.
- Select the return from the grid row.
- Set Enable Copy Inventory to Yes.
Review inventory summary
You can review the records entered into inventory.
- Click Reporting > Terminal Operator Summary Report.
- Select the criteria for the report and click Generate Report.
- The default selections reflect the last terminal operator session you visited.

- The report will display on the page. Select a format and click Export to save a printable version.
