Report in VAT Expert

Find out your transaction's VAT obligations by learning how to report in VAT Expert.

The Reporting feature provides suppliers and customers with the accurate list of VAT fees and European reports that need to be in a transaction. It also provides the codes and instructions for completing return reports. Find out your transaction's VAT obligations by learning how to report in VAT Expert.

  1. Create an invoice by following the create and email invoices manual.
  2. On the Reporting tab, click Show Reporting.

  3. The first screen shows the transaction information for the selling side: 
    •    Taxable Basis: Shows the reports’ checkboxes and amounts that the supplier has to complete in the return reports. 
    •    VAT: VAT fees that may apply.
    •    Other returns: Extra fees that may be charged. For example, the Intrastat tax or the Recapitulative statement.
    •    VAT Codes and Transaction ID

  4. To view the tax requirements for the purchasing side, click Show reporting for the purchasing side.

  5. Select the type of goods or services purchased in this transaction.

  6. The reporting information for the purchasing side shows the same values as the Reporting for the supplier side. In this case, the fees to be paid by the customer may be completely different than the supplier’s: 
    •    Taxable Basis: Shows the reports’ checkboxes and amounts that the supplier has to complete in the returns reports. 
    •    VAT: VAT fees that may apply.
    •    Other returns: Extra fees that may be charged. For example, the Intrastat tax or the Recapitulative statement.
    •    VAT Codes and Transaction ID

  7. Transactions can include more than one country. Your reporting outcome can sometimes include up to three countries. This example from another transaction shows a Dutch company that bought goods in Belgium to be sold in France.
