What is a Sworn Translation?

Sworn Translation is the translation of a document into an officially accepted document accepted by legal jurisdictions.

In certain countries, it is a requirement for translators of documents to swear an oath to attest that it is the legal equivalent of the source text. Often, only translators of a certain standard are authorized to swear such oaths. For a full list of countries and their specifics procedures, see this link.
