What is Intrastat and Extrastat?

  • Intrastat is the system for collecting statistics on the trade in goods between European Union (EU) member states. The supply of services is excluded from Intrastat. In addition to goods that have been bought and sold, Intrastat also covers goods that have moved between EU countries for other reasons. For more information on the Intrastat template, please see this guide.  For more on Intrastat please see this overview, and this guide which breaks down which countries require which fields to be filled in your template.
  • Extrastat (Extra-European Community Trade Statistics) is the system set up by the EU to collect statistics for cross-border trading of movable and physical goods between EU member states and third countries (non-member states).
