Video Playback Got You Down?

Video playback issues occur for a host of reasons. While we fully admit we make mistakes from time to time, sometimes the problem is on your local computer and requires a bit of troubleshooting to solve. We might not be able to tell you what's wrong with your own device (it would actually be kind of creepy if we did), but there are a few things we can tell you that, in general, often solve the problem.

Check your internet connection

Make sure you have a stable internet connection. We know this sounds like a no-brainer, but many people simply forget to make sure they're fully connected to the internet. If you're accessing the internet over Wi-Fi, ensure you still have a strong signal. You may also want to make sure you're using a network that allows streaming video. Some private networks limit what users are able to stream to avoid slowing all users down.

Check your browser version

Make sure you're using the most current version of your browser. Keep in mind that Internet Explorer will soon be discontinued, so if you haven't done so, it's probably a good idea to move to a new browser, like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Apple's Safari.

Disable add-ons and plug-ins

Certain add-ons and plug-ins may interfere with a streaming video. Disable all of them and turn them on one at a time to find the culprit.

Change your browser

If you've tried updating your browser to no avail, try using a different browser. Sometimes browsers update at different rates, and some may be more compliant with current standards than others.

Check flash version

Make sure you are using the latest version of Flash player.

Graphics driver

Make sure your computer's graphics driver is up to date.

  • If you're on a PC, visit the manufacturer's website to install the most current graphics drivers for your computer
  • If you're on a Mac, click the Apple logo in the top left of your screen and select Software Update. Install any available updates
