Configure PayPal Payment Gateway

PayPal is a secure payment gateway that lets you make online payments. The integration of OpenCart with PayPal now lets you calculate tax on OpenCart transactions and reflect the details in PayPal accordingly.

Enable PayPal

To enable PayPal payment gateway, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to OpenCart using Admin credentials.
  2. In the menu, click Admin > Extensions > Payment > PayPal Express CheckOut. Click Edit to edit or add PayPal Express Checkout details.
    1. In the API details tab, enter valid API Username, API Password, and API Signature provided by PayPal

    2. In the General tab, select Test (Sandbox) Mode as Yes and Status as Enabled

    3. Click Save.

Now that you have enabled PaylPal, you can start using PayPal in your transactions and the checkout section has a new payment method: PayPal Express CheckOut.

Use PayPal for a transaction

To start using PayPal in your transactions, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to OpenCart using Admin credentials.
  2. In the Step 5: Payment Method of Checkout section, select PayPal Express CheckOut and click Continue to proceed.

  3. In the Step 6: Confirm Order of Checkout section, calculated tax is displayed next to Total Tax. Click Continue to proceed your payment through PayPal.

  4. In PayPal, Your order summary displays the calculated tax next to Total Tax. Enter valid PayPal credentials and click Log In and proceed with the payment.

  5. Confirm all the details and click Pay Now to complete the payment process.

  6. This transaction is now available in AvaTax and can be viewed in the Admin Console > Transaction tab.
