Validate Addresses

Quickly validate one address or many addressesHoverTT.png at once in order to ensure that the address is formatted correctly for AvaTax to calculate tax accurately. Validate a variety of addresses: your company's addresses, your customers' addresses, and your vendors' addresses.

At this time, AvaTax only validates addresses in the United States and Canada.

Validate addresses

To validate an address on a customer card, determine the customer that you want to update and perform the following updates:

  1. Open Customer Card Accounts Receivables > Common Forms > Customers > Choose Customer > Address tab.
  2. Locate the address you want to validate, click the Functions button, and select Address Validation.

  3. The Address Validation dialog opens with the validated address. To accept the address and write it back to the database, click the Functions button and select Accept the Address.

    • If the address does not validate, an error message opens, describing why it failed validation.
    • You can correct what is wrong and try to revalidate the address by repeating steps 2 and 3

Validate addresses on an alternate address

To validate an address on an alternate address, determine the customer that you want to update and perform the following update:

  1. Open Customer Card  Accounts Receivables > Common Forms > Customers > Choose Customer > Setup > Addresses > General tab.
  2. Locate the address you want to validate and highlight it.

  3. Click the Addresses tab.
  4. Click the Address Validation button.

  5. The Address Validation dialog opens with the validated address. Click the Functions button and select the Accept the address to accept the address and write it back to the database.

    • If the address does not validate, an error message opens, describing why it failed validation.

    • You can correct what is wrong and try to revalidate the address by repeating steps 2 and 4.

Validate many addresses

Learn how to use the batch address validationHoverTT.pngmenu to validate multiple addresses for customers, vendors, warehouses, and/or sites at a time.

  1. To search customers, vendors, warehouses, or sites, click Range.
  2. Use the Criteria section to determine what group of addresses you want to validate.
  3. Click Select to validate the addresses and have them populate the grid. When the validated addresses populate the grid, you can choose to write the corrected addresses back to the database.
  4. To update the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 database, click the Marked column (or Mark All button), and then click OK.
