Review Transactional Data

TransactionsHoverTT.png in AvaTax are modeled after a document (invoice, credit memo, or return) with one or more lines. Learn how to review your transactions in the Admin Console to catch any discrepancies with your accounting system.

Review a transaction

Review transaction details if there are discrepancies between your accounting system and the Admin Console. The steps below explain how to review document and line details for a transaction in the Admin Console.

How to view a transaction

  1. On the Transactions tab, select the check box next to one or more Document Codes.

  2. Click View.
  3. On the Transaction Detail screen, review the transaction document and line(s). Each line expands to show tax details. Hyperlinks provide access to:

    • Item Detail screen displays details of the item and the tax code to which it is mapped.

    • Tax Code Detail screen displays details of the tax code to which the item is mapped.

    • Sourcing Detail screen displays details of how AvaTax sourced the jurisdiction for the line.
      • D - Destination sourcing: The ship-to address was used to source the tax rates.
      • O - Origin sourcing: The ship-from address (warehouse, office, etc.) was used to source the tax rates.
      • * - Mixed sourcing: A combination of the ship-to and ship-from addresses was used to source the tax rates.

  4. Click Next to view the next transaction.
  5. Click Done when finished.

View tax jurisdiction sourcing detail

AvaTax determines tax jurisdiction sourcing for each line when processing a transactionHoverTT.png. To review sourcing details for any line on a transaction, follow the steps below:

How to view details

  1. On the Transactions tab, click a Document Number hyperlink.
  2. On the Transaction Detail screen, the sourcing column indicates how each line was sourced:
    • The destination or ship-to address was used to source the tax rates.
      • D - Destination sourcing
    • The origin or ship-from address was used to source the tax rates.
      • O - Origin sourcing
    • A combination of origin and destination addresses was used to source the tax rates.
      • * - Mixed sourcing    
  3. Click the hyperlink in the Sourcing column.
  4. The Sourcing Detail dialog displays the address used for sourcing.
  5. Click Close.

View imported transactions

Imported transactionsHoverTT.png are assigned a batch code and can be viewed from the import status screen.

How to view imported transactions

  1. On the Tools tab, click View Imported File Status.

  2. On the Import Status screen, click the Action Menu button for an import type of transaction Import.AvaTaxCalc-Tools-ImportStatusClickView.png
  3. Click View.

  4. The Transaction screen displays all records with the batch code of the imported transactions file.
Notes:
Transactions imported into the Admin Console are not added to your accounting, ERP, e-commerce, m-commerce, or POS application.
The maximum number of transactions that can be imported from one file is 100,000.
