Manage Custom Tax Rules

Edit a tax rule, delete a tax rule or simply change the end date. Learn how to add tax rules.
Change the end date for a tax rule
Follow the steps below to change the end date for a tax rule .
- On the Organization tab, click Custom Tax Rules for a company.
- On the Tax Rules screen, click a Tax Rule hyperlink.
- On the Edit: Tax Rule screen, Step 1: Jurisdiction Selection, click Next.
- On the Edit: Tax Rule screen, Step 2: Details, type or select a new End Date.
- Click Finish.
Delete a tax rule
Tax rules should not be deleted unless a mistake is made when adding a tax rule. Tax rules that are no longer needed should be expired by changing the end date to a date in the past. Expiring a tax rule retains the information needed to determine how AvaTax processed a transaction
.
- On the Organization tab, click Custom Tax Rules for a company.
- On the Tax Rules screen, select the check box next to one or more tax rules.
- Click Delete.
- Click OK to confirm deletion.
Edit a tax rule
Follow the steps below to edit a tax rule and to select new values for the fields.
- On the Organization tab, click Custom Tax Rules for a company.
- On the Tax Rules screen, click a Tax Rule hyperlink.
- On the Edit: Tax Rule screen, Step 1: Jurisdiction Selection, select different values for any of the fields, if desired.
- Click Next.
- Type, choose or select new values for any of the fields in Step 2: Details, if desired.
- Click Finish.
